I am installing ps on my 75 cj5. I have installed the pump which come off of a 90 something dodge d-150 all i had to do was cut one of the ears off the bracket and it bolted rite up with some washers for shims so the puleys would line up. I got the gear box off of a 90 something chevy truck. Its gona work out so that one bolt is rite above the frame and two or rite below the frame. I removed the cross member and cleaned the frame up and have some 3/16 plate that im gona box in both frame rails with. MY question is after I box the frame would sleeves 1 above and 2 below the frame welded to the frame be strong enough or should I add some 1/2" plate to both sides?

Seems like you're doing it the hard way. I converted my 74 CJ5 to power steering using all bolt-on parts from a 78 CJ-5 donor. Didn't have to fabricate anything at all.

I took mine directly from a 90's YJ, as above bolted up perfectly to factory mounts

I agree. I don't understand why not using the stock steering box mount. That makes it a bolt on operation

i agree with all of the above. you can source a used box cheap that fit the mount with no problem. much less headache in the long run.

Can't recall what a 90 something GM truck box looks like but shouldn't it bolt right up to the original bracket anyway, unless of course they changed them significantly from what they used to look like.

Pics of what parts you are working with would be helpful. Did you look atmthe Saginaw steering sticky thread at the top of the builds and fabricators forum?
