The above fuel pump was brand new. All I did was tighten the fitting and that section literally fell off. That's one of the ones with the glass...

Maybe you'll be lucky and find it's only old dirty, thick grease or such that's keeping it from sliding easily.
The spring attached to the clutch pedal is for holding it up all the way.
You should be fine with putting it back just as it is sitting. I was just wanting to see if there was something weird about the way it sits.
I agree, his pictures show it being pretty normal/stock position.
