I replaced mine by only removing the rear bearing cap, did not have to loosen anything else on my F134. Get the seal referenced in this string...
how long should the replacement dowels hang down form the bottom? I have them inserted as far as they will go and they are hanging down about 3/8...
Got the rear bearing cap off with lots of wiggling. Had the old rope seal. Problem is it sheared off flush with the upper half of the bearing...

besides removing the rear bearing cap did you have to loosen the rest of the crank bearing bolts? the Kaiser willys parts site says yes, but none...

Bolts. You're right though. Put it back on this afternoon and 12 felt right. Anymore and it felt like over tightening.

Do you remember what the torque for the oil pan nuts was? My manual says 39 ft lbs...way different than the 12 above?
