I would like to install power steering in my ‘73. It’s only used for aggressive off-roading. Can anyone suggest an upgrade kit and supplier?

There is no kit, AFAIK. Have you searched? Six or V8?

Searched several sites. Now looking for a possible solution with “used parts” at deadJeeps.com

It's been covered a lot here. A 304 is pretty easy to gather the needed parts for. You will need junkyard parts - there's no source for all the pieces you'll need in one place, or new aftermarket.

Thanks, timgr for your response. Can you suggest some vehicle models and vintages that I can use to search for the needed parts at my local wrecking lots?

    site:earlyCJ5.com 304 power steering conversion - Bing

You need two major components: The power steering pump and its brackets and pulleys (engine side), and the power steering gear and coupling (chassis side). The hoses are available as aftermarket service parts. Lots of discussion of this in older posts here; see the search I linked above. Power steering was a factory option in the CJ-5 starting in 1972, so it's mostly a matter of collecting the components needed to complete what would have been a factory installation. For the engine side, you could look for any Jeep from '72-on with a factory AMC V8. On the chassis, there are too many possible donors to list. The steering is GM Saginaw (see your TSM) and there are millions of vehicles out there with usable parts.

Welcome from Boston! Maybe make a thread in the introductions forum?
