The holes for the tire mount in mine were buried under 1/2" of bondo.
Then I found the crows foot shaped rip in the metal that was sort of welded together.

I used a hammer, a hydraulic bottle jack to square it up as good as gets.
Then I used a spool of wire filling it in (or so).
    Grind, weld, a lot, repeat.

Grinder, Bondo (minimal) and sanding...Now to touch up the paint. I was thinking of going tan...I always get the "Nice Army Jeep".

    I'll get to those separately.

I'm the last guy you want welding on your Jeep. My body work SUCKS! I was hoping the paint would hide it a little better...Oh well.

If you were closer, I'd do the welding on the off side as you worked in the other. How much power do you have available?

Sort of like some ads on the internet. Three good shots of it and nothing from the other side. Why is there no air cleaner?

Woo, Cancer! I've got some of that behind some aluminum diamond plate on mine, that I just haven't been able to get to yet.

Stop putting holes in your jeep and making me miscount.

In all seriousness, not that bad to fix

As you can there is a brace directly behind that to hold the spare tire bracket. You can carefully cut out a small section of steel. Sometimes if you wire wheel the spot you might see the spot welds; then you can drill it out.

I made a small square patch of steel for each hole. In your case you will want to think about putting one piece. The steel is 18 guage BTW. Don't use anything thinner.
