This thread will serve to chronicle the build of my M100 that is paint matched to my 66 CJ-6. I bought this trailer from a friend of my dads who had it paint matched to his early CJ when I was about 14 or 15. Fast forward about 20 yrs and I bought my 6 that just happened to be the same color. I rarely used it prior to this and it lived at my Uncle's house more often than not. I picked it up 2 weeks ago and the plan is to turn it into an off-road camping trailer.

    This is my starting point.

My first step was to swap out the 15x10 Western Cyclone wheels for a set of 15x8 Firestone reversed wheels painted white. That happened last night so this is up to current. this will be an ongoing thread with the hope to have it done with a tent, awning and drawer system by mid September. The Jeep is getting a set of 15x8 Kelsey Hayes Renegade wheels powdercoated white to match the trailer. The whole package should end up looking pretty good!

Very nice, both the Jeep and trailer. Finding a trailer like yours is sort of the acme of a Jeep owners dreams.

I've got a couple of M100's myself. One will be a resto-mod and I'm contemplating a camping trailer for the other, so I'll be watching your progress as well!

Made some progress on the trailer this weekend with the help of CARTER. We mounted the tent and awning on it.

I finished up the drawer install last night. A couple of waterproof totes for gear and some camping gear and she's outfitted for the September trip through Idaho and Montana. Just gotta finish outfitting the Jeep now.

Here's some pics of the tent and awning set up in the crowded back yard. This should work well.... Even if we see some extreme weather.

Your yard looks fine to me. You do have more toys than I do. My friend had a city councilman next to him that kept calling Bob in for where his trailer and boat were parked, he was legal. After the neighbor was off of the council Bob noticed him out building a deck without a permit. It took a bit of thought but he didn't turn the guy in.
    Nice setups you have there.

Looks great. I'm looking to do something very similar in the near future. Can you provide some details on the roof top tent and the awning.
How do you like the quality of the tent and awning? It looks like the rain cover for the tent interferes with the awning. Also, how do you like the placement of the tent? A majority of the tents I have seen sit higher on the trailer. I'm curious if its easier to get in/out if it sits higher. Thanks.

The tent and awning are both ARB. We built the brackets. If I were to do it over I'd probably space the awning brackets out for clearance of the tent window. I initially wanted to drill as few holes in the trailer as possible so we incorporated the awning brackets into the crossbars for the tent. The rain cover on the tent can be used with the window rods or clipped into place in the down position, but it has to be in the down position to have the awning up. Not a big deal for me. Getting in and out would be easier with the tent higher. The veranda bow that covers the entrance ladder should really be above your head for easing in and out. I wanted to keep the COG low for off road towing so I mounted it low, I just have to duck under the cover and up the ladder. I got a great deal on the Simpson III tent, but if I hadn't I probably would have looked at a Kakadu tent( http://store.arbusa.com/ARB-Kakadu-Rooftop-Tent-ARB4101A-P22784.aspx )for the trailer. They are better set up for trailer use IMO as they don't have the cover over the entrance so can be mounted lower and not have to duck under the cover.

We toyed with the idea of making some stake pockets for it, but this has been more of a quick n dirty build. The maiden voyage starts next week in Spokane, wa. And takes us in a 1300 mile loop of almost all dirt roads thru idaho and Montana and back to spokane. We're camping remotely every night so I'm sure i will find some things to do over.... i haven't even used it yet! Lol

Both the jeep and trailer worked exceptionally well this trip.

I don't think I would change much for function, but I think the trailer is going to get some new springs and some tires that match the jeep.

I have a set of Superlift springs I think will fit it. Gonna try for another pair of 33X10.50-15 grabbers under it to match the Jeep.

I really like your setup. Jeep and trailer both. Personaly, I would run the same wheels so you could have two spares. Especially if your going to be doing 1300 miles and mostly backroads. Not sure AAA would be much help.
