I got a couple things done on the 56 CJ5 today. A few weeks ago I ordered a new point style distributor for the Ford 5.0L V8. I know it's China Corp so I ordered a NOS Borge Warner set of points, a Mallery condenser and a new Pro Comp Bronze distributor gear because of the Roller cam shaft in the engine. I got the gear pressed off and the new one installed.
Then took out the China points and condenser to install the USA parts.
Once together I pulled the old dizzy and installed the new one.
It fired right up and runs well. Then I installed a new GPS Speedo antenna because I pinched the old one folding the windshield,. Last of all I took a test drive to the Post Office. All is well.

I guess I missed this somewhere - is that an Early CJ with later fenders and hood? Modified the front crossmember?

I went looking and was not able to find a good pic. .... the fresh air intake goes to a 4" dia radial fan, then thru the metal pipe, and blows directly on the carb fuel bowls/ body.
The air intake on the air filter just sucks under hood air. Which is why I installed hood louvers
I'll temp it back together and get a pic tomorrow.

Finally got a set of wiper arms that fit on the studs. Barneys Jeep on ebay, who made the linkage kit, sent me them. He initially refused to disclose which manufacturer they use. Big surprise....It's Crown. LOL

Installed a vintage style "Day/Nite" mirror from speedway.

New chrome headlight and signal bezels

Attempted to change out the upper steering bearing but when I went to install it (new one pictured on right), the outer perimeter bent the steering shaft so much it was tearing up the inside collar of the steering wheel. So I had to just use the ball bearings from it and re-use the old bearing cup.

New steering wheel cause I DESTROYED the old one getting it off.

And finally...... Made a shorty hood prop for car shows etc.

    That's a good looking vehicle.

Make sure the hood prop can't fall out if wind catches the hood. You'll think you latched it down when you didn't.

Adjusted the steering stops after dad's 66 got new shoes. After I did one side I learned one of the POs cut the driver's side stop off. Just another thing to address. (Probably with an axle swap.)

Finished wiring my rear diff today...that seems like a strange thing to say but I installed an Eaton E locker awhile back and finally got around to hooking up the electrical. It came with a nifty rocker switch but it's pretty big and I couldn't find anywhere to mount it that I liked, so I used a regular ol' toggle switch in a pre existing unused hole in the dash.
And it works great! Flip the switch, 100% locked, off and it's an open diff :D

You thinking of a second switch in the system? I didn't do it, but I think a lot of people do to ensure no accidental turn ons when not wanted. I thought about putting it in a harder to reach spot, and not connected to the relay, just a line break. It would stay off for most driving and keep the dash rocker inactive. For wheeling trips, it would get flipped on, say when locking hubs, and then the dash rocker going to the relay would be active. Again, just something I think about, but never did.

I don't think that'll be necessary, the switch is hooked up to key operated power. I suppose I could forget & leave it on while driving on the street but I tried that yesterday & you can really feel when it's locked in on pavement!

No worries....I've never accidentally 'bumped' mine when driving, but its in a complicated area with the headlight switch (which is basically the hole you mounted yours in), wipers, hazard and the front roll bar hoop all making it a bit tricky reaching around and behind to activate switches - especially when driving.... at night.... when its raining.....and I sort of am blindly feeling my way to the switch while supposedly looking at the road. Good news is the roll bar with makes things difficult in that area, also acts as a bit of a shield as well.

Hmmm, my headlight switch is to the right of the emergency flashers. Must be a variation in production....it couldn't be that I put it together wrong 23 years ago!
I also don't have a roll cage, if I ever get around to doing that I might have to revisit the switch location.
