I bought a damper kit for my 70 CJ5, but it appears I was sold one that is more appropriate for a 2a/b. the reason I am questioning it is because the outline of the originals are still on the floor boards. anyone have a picture of originals they could share.

I used a piece of inner tube and glued it to the floor with weather strip adhesive.

The CJs from just a couple years earlier consisted of a spring, fender washer, and rubber seal washer that mounted on the pedal arm under the floor. Your clutch pedal arm seems a little low, from the position of the original hole. You may want to see if you have wear on the clutch/brake crosstube where the pedals pivot.

Thanks for the advice. I found an inner tube that I had laying around. Will also take a look at the cross tube.

Do you have a body lift? Something is causing an alignment issue.

My 70 has the same imprint. I thought it was a home made tape job over the hole. I had only seen the under floor like Donny mentioned.

no body lift. I took a look at the assembly and although on the loose side, nothing seems to be out of alignment.
The assembly could use a rebuilt kit, or at least to be taken apart and gone over.

    ojgrsoi,
Yours looks like it has a washer on the underside of the floor board. To me it looks like a factory job, since both jeeps have the exact same imprint/double sided tape.

I ended up cutting an old inner tube and using some 3M spray adhesive. I will have to do some more looking around and hopefully can come up with a more accurate way of building/fabing a set.

I saw DJ Butler's under floor set up on our Rubicon trip last year. I picked one up from Walck's I believe.

That's the one I got as well. But I think it's a generic kit and not the one used for later cj's like mine

I can use it on my '47 though so not a complete loss

Pardon my ignorance, but what are these things supposed to do?

I’ve looked at a lot of interior pics, you know, checking for authenticity in all details and have never noticed such items installed. Many thanks.

They do two things; they cover the gap around the hole in the floor where the pedal arms go through, and they provide a little cushion against the pedal slamming against the floor when released.

The outline you both see on the inside on the floor boards appears to be the self adhesive stick on factory pad.
More of a draft pad to cover the hole.
    The p/n was 946728, measuring 2-1/2' by 3'.
I tried them on mine as well and they didn't last very long.
