LJ should be the long version of the TJ, but still 2 door. I like those.

Thats the one. 2 door Unlimited. I believe they only made the LJ Rubicon for 1 or 2 years. As much as I love Posi, I'm looking for a little more comfort. Just turned 68 in June and I'm not as spry as I used to be.

And Ron, I see so many of those 4 door JKs around it's sick. They're ugly IMHO I guess they make great mall crawlers though.

Too bad the LJ wasn't more popular. They do look soooooo much better than the 4 door JK.

I think the JK front fenders are the ridiculous part - wish the would have kept them metal with just a small plastic wheel well flare more like previous LJ/TJ/YJ/CJ5-8.
Would the LJ be built or would it be more for cruising and DDing?

It will be built for trail use but kept road worthy. Probably going to run 36 x 13.50 IROK's and if I buy the one I'm looking at today it will need a long arm suspension. I also plan to install a Rubi Crawler from Advance Adapters. It is essentially a dual transfer case with a low range near what we are all used to. You can use it or the 4 to 1 or both for a low range near 12 to 1. Also looking for an auto tranny to give my left knee a rest and the Rubi Crawler only works with an auto.

I agree about the fenders on the JK looking ridiculous. Then people add those stupid looking "brow" bug guards on the front. They stopped looking "jeepish" with the JK. Those square headlights on the Wronglers don't bother me nearly as much now. Hahaha

never thought of it that way...but I think I agree.

4.10 gears in a Rubi (I think), with 12:1 reduction and auto with around 2.5:1? That gives 123:1! For a standard that seems great, but from what I understand, an auto doesn't need nearly the CR that a standard transmission does due to torque converter? I've no personal experience with auto on a built rig...just wondering

It would probably be a special circumstance that you would use the doubler I imagine. Nice having the 2.72 to use as the 4 to 1 isn't really necessary all the time. I will report back after I get a chance to use it.

Acording to the Urban Dictionary JK stands for 'Just Kidding'. :schooled:

Maybe the designers have a sense of humor...

I ended up buying the '06 LJ. It's silver and hasn't been offroad much. 54,000 miles on the clock. It has a Smittybilt 8K winch and a nice Viair compressor system, a new yellow top Optima, it's got a slush box tranny and it's a Rubicon. I'll post up some pics on Tues. I'm running the Barrett Lake Trail tomorrow and Monday. Not in the LJ though, in Posi.

It's going to get a long arm suspension and will eventually be riding on 35 or 37" rubber. Also came with a new soft top. Those are the most "realistic" fake beadlocks I've ever seen. I'll be ditching those too.

Roger that! They spend more money on fake beadlocks than the cost of real beadlocks. But then, I guess you really don't need beadlocks to get you to the Mall and back.
