Dana Model 18 Intermediate Gear Tapered Bearings Question

I’m installing a tapered bearing kit in my transfer case do I need to use the thrust washers? I tried but they won’t fit between the gear and the case.

 

Not used because the intermediate gear end thrust is controlled by the tapered roller bearings.

 

Ok thank you. I set it just like you do wheel bearings.

 

As I recall, there's instructions with the kit about setting bearing preload and yes, it's like setting wheel bearings.
