On a serious note, your hobby rigs should be something that bring you pleasure. I spent years working on and loved my track day Mustang when I lived in the Seattle area. There were several race tracks and autocrosses nearby. Conversely a vintage Jeep really wouldn't have sucked in all the Seattle traffic.

Then we move rural with several miles of gravel road to the nearest pavement. The Mustang is useless here but the Jeeps are fantastic. The Mustang just sat while I drove the Jeeps several times a week year-round. I drive them all over the property when the crops aren't growing and the whole family goes for Sunday drives around the local farms. I sold the Mustang on Bring-a-Trailer last year and have no regrets. It's great not having guilt when I see it sitting in the garage gathering dust.

If a fun street toy will bring you more pleasure than the Jeep then get that thing and let the Jeep bring joy to someone else. Stuff sitting unused doesn't do anyone any good.

When I was young, sport cars was something ridiculous in my idea...
    You cannot make sport inside.:)

In my mind, these cars were for big belly people, unable to run on a track, climb a moutain track, swim 2 miles...
    I was a motorcycle guy.
I also was good at defense sports, good body condition was useful. Played tennis.
Convertible cars, was nice, at this time Jeeps were not in fashion, only for special works, firemen, army, construction .... Not often farming.
My mind has changed a bit, but I believe that it is better to rent this kind of car to play.
Or being very rich to have all cars in the big garage.
But is it really a way of life ? Not sure...

    Oh, I don't know.

I recall this one time with four of us in a '68 Mini . ....but we were teenagers, and still flexible. And motivated.

I've literally never seen one of those on the highway where the driver wasn't driving like a real a-hole.

Glad you're still here! I think you made the right choice.

Glad your staying. Those go fast on the road, but the members here will race you anytime off road.

You would soon get bored and need a Jeep fix.

    That's the catch.

Like driving German cars - very nice, but everyone else will treat you like you are an A-****.

And that shade of red would only attract the kind of women you are better off avoiding!

I’ve got a fast car. It’s a sleeper, 2004 Subaru Forester XT. The first car I bought new. Right around 200000 I burned an exhaust valve and ended up pulling the motor and getting the heads redone, bought a new short block, upgraded to a larger turbo and all supporting mods. The car was 0-60 in 5.3 seconds stock. Now it’s probably more like 4.5 or less to 60mph. It looks like a regular Subaru though and you wouldn’t know how quick it is unless you are in the loop or getting passed. In fact I’d say this car will out 60 ft most cars I encounter due to the low first gear.

Yes, true, my son, with 2 friends, rented a Camaro V8 convertible for a week-end; they came to visit us, the music was good.
We have plenty of good roads around, in front of my house, there is a good line, we can make 200 km/h easily.
They were young, and of course one of them made a test on the big local road... they were happy, the police. My son told me that they were nice, and that it was the 1st time they were catching a car on this road at more Than 200 km/H. The driver for his license suspended for 6 months, and a fine. And some points less on the driving licence. A good lesson for them.
And one of the police guy asked them where they rented this car.. it is was near the Tours city, a good address, they have also Porsche and others.
Renting for 2 days is good, but you must know the roads and avoid controls.

We had a Subaru garage in my place in Paris, they were selling the fast one, bought by the Police; the price was good, but price for repair was high. I was looking for a 2hand one for fun, but I never found one.
Maybe they disappear when in 1st hand. ???

i'd like to say that we were able to get a suburban loaded down with 5 people and their stuff for a cross country drive to find the governer...
just took a few minutes to get up to speed.
that thing doesn't start fast, but even in it's ripe old age ('05, but it's got 326k miles), it'll get up and pass someone if you need it to. extremely reliable vehicle, and it can tow quite a lot. it's comfy as well, with up to 11 seated in it at one point or another.
fitting that many people into that thing was a bit interesting, as it's designed for 8. we had 2 in the front, 3 in the middle, 4 in the back, and 2 in the trunk. the trunk isn't seperated by anything, just behind the removable rear seat. we had 2 lawn chairs back there facing each other, and it was actually fairly enjoyable.

Get the best of both worlds - Ram 1500 TRX Hellcat 6.2-liter V-8 makes 702 supercharged horsepower at 6,100 rpm and you still get Black Wheels too!

Says the guy with a 350 in his CJ---------

I've always felt my 3B was in never-never land. Some place between a hot rod and a rock muncher. What it has always done is put a big poop eating grin on the face, on or off road.

As I enter The Golden years, I count as one of my life-successes that I have never not had a Jeep.

I can't imagine being without one. That would be so...ordinary.
