So I’ve been driving the Rox as my DD for about a year and clocked about 5500 miles on it since May 2020. I gotta say, this thing is everything I hoped it’d be. It completely replaced my TJ, which was my goal. I still have a few more plans for it, but I’ve mostly left it alone for the last year.

    I absolutely love the engine.

So you had to do some modifications to make it street legal? What top speed? Pictures?

Pictures for sure! I have been thinking about doing the same thing for a beach buggy when we retire to FL. Or dropping a flatty body onto the roxor frame to get the same thing done from a different angle.

I did quite a bit to it. Highest speed I’ve had it to is prolly 70-75 mph.

Some of the other threads in here have pics of mine.

Yeah I did it the “right way”. Custom vin. All run through Madison and state pd. It can be done right, but it takes forever. Very much worth it in the end. This thing is 50 state legal.

Another year, still love this thing. I think they're gonna start selling em again. They look fugly now though, but perhaps some parts swapping can cure that.

I have about 15K miles on it now

How different is it from our cj5's? I thought about getting one for my once a week commute, but it seems so close to my cj5 that I'll more than likely just use that when I get it completed.

I also hate the look of the new ones, and am honestly surprised the Toyota people don't go after them for badly copying the fj40 grill. I really wish jeep lost their lawsuit like land rover did with the grenadier. The two vehicles don't seem to even compete in the same market.

It drives and feels quite like a YJ, if you've ever driven one. I do love the motor. I would love for them to offer it in crate form. I'd put one in everything.

I meant more the feel of the vehicle in terms of suspension, steering, brakes, and whatnot.

Power wise, it's a well matched diesel. It does not lack for power, specially down low (it walks around easily in 3rd gear high). It very comfortably goes 70 MPH with plenty of power left, and my tune is VERY mild. There are tunes far more powerful than mine. So while it feels like neither the 4 or 6 gassers exactly, it feels good IMO. If I had to chose, def the 6.

Well for sure my 4-cylinder YJ struggles on the interstate.

There were several of the Roxors running around the upper Keys for a while, but I haven’t seen them recently. With your positive comments, I regret not buying one two years back when one with 1,000 miles was for sale at $8500. I’ll keep an eye out for any locally.
