I have a stupid question : I'm close to eighty and can't see very well, but are the locking nuts on
the brake adjusters left handed or right handed ? Its on a 64 cj5, stock..I tried to adjust one the front
yesterday, and the nut was stuck. I sprayed them down with nut buster and am letting it sit.
If I remember right, they are right-handed but before I get stupid, maybe someone will tell me..

IIRC, they are all right-hand thread. And a great item for Never-Seize.

But it is confusing because the eccentrics operate in opposition. Left side turns anti-clockwise to tighten the brake, Right side turns clockwise, as viewed from the axle side. A member here once posted a good diagram of this, I think.

I hope someone else will please confirm.

This is correct. You turn the eccentrics toward the outside of the wheel (turn them away from the axle/hub) to push the shoes tighter against the drums.

But all eccentric lock nuts are standard threading (righty tighty).

Won't help, because the eccentrics will rotate.
