Let me know if you get stuck modeling anything.
I used fusion a bit in college but I use solidworks as my dayjob most aspects are the same thought process though the commands may have different names.

Don't forget bend deductions vary with thickness.

I got a few weeks with a big hypertherm cutting millsheets after college but it was different nesting and cnc software.

You should take a crack at the 225 sparkplug wire bar and rear seat brackets.:goodidea:

    That looks very nice.

We're having a new Shouse built in mid-Michigan area. My garage/workshop with have 13' ceilings and is 50' wide and 56' deep. I plan on getting a plasma table, but probably not that big. I'm looking at the Langmuir Crossfire XL. I thing the table is 24"x35". Probably as large as I need for brackets and mounts etc. Also going to have a 2-post 11k# hoist, always wanted one. OH, I'll have in floor hot water heat throughout the entire place. I have my '67 CJ-5 that I'm going to be tearing down to refurb this summer after we move in. I'm sure a plasma table will be a BIG help to me for such projects.

What model is yours and what plasma cutter unit are you using? The Crossfire with water table and 45 amp Razorweld plasma cutter will be around $2,800. For a hobby such as mine, I can't see much more of an investment. You look like you're in business and well prepared for whatever comes your way. Very nice shop!!!

At work the engineers all used SolidWorks, but I used AutoCAD 2D for my work. I'm quite good at creating 2D .dxf files and that's what the table software will need to run its cut path etc. I'll have to learn all that and at 72 that may be a bit hard on an old fart like me. :)

Fill us in on the table info please.

    Dan

I use solidworks 50hrs a week for sheetmetal
The main benefit over 2d is you can have bend deductions on a corporate standard within the software templates. For 2D like Autocad you have to manually take material out of the flat where it grows in the bend. Otherwise it's just bell's and whistles. I only Autocad to check DXF files before sending to programming and sometimes do some Crafty edits to make knockouts work.

Just make sure you have the ability to work with 4x8 sheets otherwise it's a pain to get material cut down to use. So a 4 wide bed could slide the sheet inside and simply cut 2' at a time.

Post up any questions you have about CAD in the off topic and I can give it a try during my break or lunch for trouble shooting.
