I picked this winch up today for $75. Looks like the same winch I have on Ted, just with a gear drive and electric motor. I don't know if this electric portion will work on Ted or not. The frame might be in the way.

Oddly enough, when I scored my dual output at pick a part years ago, somebody had beat me to it, but only wanted the winch to covert it to one of these.

Ramsey worm gear probably 8000lb. I have 10000lb on the front of cj5 and a 12000lb on the front of dodge 3/4t w250. all work well just a bit slow. I would say more of a industrial style unit. Tow trucks use them with hydraulic drive.

I’ve had a couple and like Ralf Zepp said kind of slow. I didn’t keep mine as they were wider than I wanted. They are a good industrial winch though.

Hah! That reminds me I have one of these somewhere in my dad's garage. As I recall looking at mine, you might be able to rotate the housing and motor to a vertical position to make it narrower.

Wonder if it would be possible to convert one of these to become a PTO powered winch. Can they be reversed to have the PTO hook-up on the other end. Anyone have any experience.

I suspect they can, the gentleman I ran into at pick a part made it sound like he had converted them to non before. I suspect you could with tools and knowhow.

They can be switched from electric to pto to hydraulic no problem. I don’t know if the input can be switched to the other side or to drive from back to front. I know Koenig’s can but not sure about these.

If the opposite end of the input has a bolt on round cover, I believe the shaft can go either direction for input which would help for pto application.

I swapped Ted’s winch around. The driveshaft is supposed to be on the driver’s side. I ran it up the passenger side.

If I may ask, how did you make the PTO work for a passenger side shaft?
