That doesn't look like a T-14? The T-14s from my '71 and '69 have bulging sides to the top cover:

    I think that's a T-90 or T-86 but I don't know how to tell them apart externally.

It is a T86 that came out.
Don’t you think a T14 will be a direct swap?

Ah, I thought it was your spare transmission. As long as you have the adapter for the front of it, it should be a direct swap. I think the lengths are close enough you don't need to swap driveshafts or move the crossframe but am not sure about that.

I'll check the parts bins this weekend - I don't run any 10 spline stuff any longer.

Thanks Chuck. I ordered one but I’ll return it if you find a good spare.

Haven’t been working on this project much since I sunk my old Jeep this past weekend. I’ve been trying to get it back in working order. That and we’re having 35 people over for Easter Sunday Dinner. She got me cleaning carpets tonight.

Sorry Scott - no joy on the bull gear. I don't have one in the box I was thinking it would be, but then I've got other places to search as you know

I finally got the T14 installed. Next is fitting an AA chain clutch linkage and the transfer case. Driveshafts, skid plate.

The rear seal on the intake manifold is leaking oil all over the place. I may be able to get some time to get my tan Jeep running again after that.

Last night I installed an AA chain clutch linkage. Thanks James. Seems to work fine.

I think I mentioned that the back of the intake manifold was leaking oil. So popped it off and discovered the PO used the rubber seals but didn’t use any RTV in the corners. I trashed the rubber, reused the gasket and put a good bead of RTV on the front and rear. Fingers crossed this all works.

Took off the old tie rod and draglink also. Pickle fork required. Had new parts from Speedway. The TREnds looked good and reusable so I didn’t order new ones - Not so much, I now have new ones on the way. The PO installed all of it with only one castle nut and pin!! Ordered a tie rod flip insert for the drag link.

Waiting on new locking washers for the front hubs, bull gear for the transmission output and now the TRE.

    Skipped work- worked on Jeep.

Different transmission so I had to rework the crossmember a bit. Next the intake looks good so hook up the fuel and coolant lines. Install the distributor cap and wires. It stared right up no problem. Grind the thick bed liner off the transmission tunnel and repaint. Welded on a temporary front bumper ( have a Tux chrome bumper for after repaint). It is easier to climb around on a jeep that has a bumper. Must have forgotten something- I was out in garage all day!!

Oh yeah- I found an old locking washer in my parts so cleaned it up and put the front hub all back together.

Used the wire cup on my grinder and got most of the thick bed liner off the floors. Found if you heat it with a torch it scrapes off pretty easily. It will burn with a little extra heat (avoid that). Had moderate project creep when I ended up removing the fuel tank to clean and paint the area. Jeep was left outside and lots of pine straw and other debris packed around the tank.

I had pretty good luck with a heat gun and just pealing it off, but I did a much smaller area.

Couple days to get everything back together. But it runs and drives well.

    Walk around-
