    Cool-o-meter?
You have one of those? Very rare. Haven't been made in decades.

    IMO......
Your going through all this work and your going to stick a 4 speed in it?
The modern 5 speeds will blow the doors off an old 4 speed every day of the week. They shift better, run quieter/cooler and don't eat up as much HP.
5th gear overdrive is a major bonus too.

Finally got the engine out, oh, the current engine is the 170, not the 225.
I Found that the engine I was/am looking at is as '73 8.5:1 340ci. I wrote the seller and said I'm passing on his engine/trans~ he rarely responded anyway. I've plenty of time, I just think I find a decent deal, but alas~ nothing but time here.

I did have to drop the transmission pan to disconnect the park cable. In doing so, there was barely any transmission fluid, just water, but only like a quart~ the innards were milky crappy looking.

I had this scissor jack that I welded onto the rear~ helped a great deal;)

Hard to imagine a transmission of any kind going down this path!

    Sawzall and filler sheet metal!
You cut the trans tunnel out where it meets the flat of the floorboard. Once the drivetrain is in you sit the trans tunnel on top of the new transmission with some spacers in between the tunnel and top of transmission. From there you make some filler strips of sheet metal and weld them in.
The new TKX transmission from Tremec is very compact and rated for 600 hp......

    Well, that sounds "easy" enough;)

If I were to go back with torsion bars, I wouldn't be cutting into that would I? I've got so much going on with just the dimantling right now, I shouldn't be even thinking other things! lol

I was thinking to play around with the engine (trans is history), but would really be a waste of time. Especially since it's just the smaller of slant sixes (170ci). I'm thinking to advertise it on FB as free, I can load it with my crane. That would be nice to get it out of the garage, maybe someone would cash in on the scrap value. Of course the K member doesn't go with it.

    Why keep the K member?
It's six cylinder only (IIRC) and the aftermarket suspensions replace it.

Cornering on your door handles is greatly underappreciated.

I'm going to quit thinking about it for a while :banghead: I'm going to put tools up, and it's crazy storming here~

A person on the 63-66 Dodge dart site wrote:

"On ‘63-‘66 A bodies, the slant 6 and the small block V8 share the same K frame. You need engine mounts, brackets, steering center link to swap from /6 to V8."

Hi;) nothing much has been going on, family in town~ but this 360 popped up within a few miles. Might go take a look at it (added expenses: engine overhaul, intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetor, if I were to use the transmission another 1000). darn, time to make dinner:(

bummer: just looked up the specs: 170hp 2barrel, 8.4:1 Came out of a '73 Suburban. Nice of the guy to respond, but it's not a good engine for my Dart:(

To the best of my knowledge, Mopar never had a 360 Suburban and Chevy did not use Mopar engines in Suburbans.
