Afternoon all just wondering if anyone has a good line on a dana 20 shifter for 72 cj5 the previous owner hacked off about 6 inches to make room for ac system and while I have everything apart I would like to replace it but most google lookups I see are looking for 75.00 seems a bit high to me. If all else fails I think I will just weld in a piece between the top and bottom I have. Also what is the bracket for on bottom left of the tc see photo.

Since you have both top and bottom pieces I would weld in a piece. A bevel butt weld should have good penetration and be strong. The bracket looks like it’s for a clutch cable which’72 didn’t have, ‘71 last year. So I don’t know, maybe just leave it connected to TC.

The bracket is indeed for the clutch cable.
Clutch cables were factory if I recall.
Jeep later came out with a mechanical linkage conversion kit.
I think the conversion kits were for the 72-73 model years.

Place a WTB in classifieds for the lever.

Lemme take a look in the shop on Friday. I put a twin stick on the FrankenJeep, so should have the original somewhere.

If so, it’s yours for the cost of postage…

    Edit:

Found it! Had to take the dogs out, so I stopped by the shop.
