Not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but I need some help decoding my VIN. It’s supposed to be a 1967, but the number seems to fit into the 1965 range from what I’ve seen. However, I only saw 8305A/B prefixes. My jeep is 8305C. The full vin is 8305C 208966WC. There is a second metal plate that reads “CJ-5 Kaiser Jeep of Canada, Windsor, Ontario. Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be a Canada build designator?

Turns out you don’t have a Jeep at all. You actually have a classic Jaguar

Is the “WC” suffix for Windsor Canada where it was built? I seen to remember seeing that before.
As to the crazy Jaguar ID that popped up, that reply is garbage, the site is useless. I happen to have a ‘63 Jag XKE and the serial number is 6 digits and starts with 8887XX for a Coupe, or 879XXX for a Convertable.

For Toledo built CJ5’s, 208966 shows a February 1966 build date. Do Windsor built Jeeps share the same serial numbers with Toledo built Jeeps, or do the Canadian Jeeps have a separate, but parallel set of serial numbers?

Does this mean that the jeep was sold in Canada? Or built in Canada for export?

Or built in Canada for the Canadian domestic market, I think is the answer. Yours’ just migrated here to Florida likely with a snowbird sometime over the decades.
