A lot of "tire shops" have kids working there that have never even seen tires with tubes, and I don't want them learning with mine.

I have had good luck taking tube type tires to places that deal with truck tires, and farm equipment tires (local CO-OP), or long established tire shops with some old geezers still around. I would not take them to Walmart or one of the big chain tires stores.

I got a "Double decker" reciever ball that I can stick a winch into above the trailer ball. Worked great getting my Jeep on the U-Haul trailer I rented. You can get them at Tractor Supply or CAL Ranch ( or the like) for about 60 bucks. No need to modify the trailer, and a winch on a reciever mount slips right in. They are designed for putting bike racks or such above the ball, but my 9k winch didnt even know the jeep was there.....

It's amazing how many friends you find you have when you own a car trailer w/winch, bucket truck, stump grinder, tractor with tiller and brush hog, log splitter, welder and the list goes on.

    Wow! That is cool!

The trailer has a similar receiver mount and the winch will be okay. I'm not going to mess with brute-force dragging. The Jeep is very accessible, and we pushed around a couple of months ago. I'm looking at various options for getting some roller tires under it one way or another. Modifying wheels is less preferable to finding something that will bolt on, but desperate men do desperate things.

    I appreciate all the input!

Hey guys - Thought I would post the "rest of the story". In the long run it was so easy it was almost embarrassing. My friend, who owns the property came up with two 15" "spoke style" wheels for a jeep. He also had two rotten 15" Hoosier race tire pull-offs. Lastly he had a tire machine on the ranch with which to mount the tires.

Another old friend of mine from high school came to visit and help me make the actual grab. He has very nice Bronco with a NICE winch and some NICE recovery equipment. We used it to pull the jeep out of the pasture and onto solid ground. Even though we had a hand winch for the trailer, we set up a snatch block and winched the jeep onto the trailer with remote-controlled Warn winch on the Bronco... just to see the new toys work. All work was done under the supervision of one of the ranch residents - pictured.

The drive home was uneventful - just like you want, and the Jeep is in my driveway. Maybe a bit anti-climatic, but I do appreciate the input - Thanks!
