So far the only two unexpected cost encounters was the $40 Hub puller for the rear axle, and two $25 drill bits. I'm not a machinist so I don't have 39/64 in drill bits laying around.
    Otherwise it's pretty straightforward

Did you get the rear done...or waiting on the hub puller?

I ordered mine from Amazon, it was shipped from California to somewhere, like Tennessee instead of Washington. I emailed Amazon and canceled the order (because I paid for 2 day shipping). It showed up a week later. I emailed Amazon again saying it showed up after I canceled the order, they said enjoy your item on us.

I hope its a big bottle!

I dont know if it matters but loctite has an expiration date. I buy tiny bottles. And I eat expired food all the time so who am I to judge.

Ive had tapered hubs stuck real good like this. Keeping it under tension while letting it soak overnight with PB Blaster sometimes works. Also, just a little bit of evenly applied heat on the hub while under tension can cause it to pop loose. I heated a flange that was under considerable tension and it let go with vigor and flair, sailing across the garage. Be careful, pullers can be dangerous. Gloves and safety glasses, and stay out of the way as much as you can.

Also, I slather my puller shafts with anti-seize. Keeps them from galling, and lets you deliver more gronk with less grunt. But I can imagine its not too hard to warp your hub flange so try a little heat before going nuts with more tension.

I've got the nut on quite a bit just to prevent it from shooting out. I guess I'll try a torch next. This is crazy.

The gap between the nuts and the flange is at least an eighth of an inch. So I know then that nut is not keeping it on Resized_20190423_153012.jpeg

It popped. Crazy. I was at the point of eff it. If it breaks something, it breaks something. I'm just mad now!

It pops right before you think the next blow is going to break the puller.

A rattle gun is a good approach too...Good Vibrations.

    Just what this thread needs...
