I have an old jeep that someone put another rear end in that was lower geared 5.30 ,than the front 4.27 , anyway if I can find one with 4.27 s what is a reasonable price?

I would say $50-150 unless it has somthing special done to it like full float, discs, posi, 11" drums or somthing of the like.

May be easier to find a front axle with (the more common) 5.38s. That said, I agree neither of these axles have much value other than as replacements in a Jeep equipped with them. You might try the other Jeep forums, including Pirate, where these axles would be throw-aways from a Jeep build.

Won't be cheaper, but if done right you know the axle would be good rather than hoping a used one is good.

I live about 50 miles into Michigan from the Ohio border. I gave my friend GI Joe a set of Tuxedo Park axels. They are 1964, 4:27, 9" brakes, but worked just fine, he would probably give you a good price on the pair. I don't know where you are in Kentucky but it might be worth the drive. P M me if you want Joe's number.

I saw an early Dana 44 two piece axle just about a week ago. 12 inch brakes the owner stated with 4.27 gears for 300. Still it was close to 500 miles away. Not sure if that is a good price, but here in Central Oregon it is a long ways to any big city with old Jeep parts for sale.
