It seems to have been a popular mod back in the day. It may have even been something that you could request from the dealer when you bought it.(for an additional fee)

Mine was painted body color long ago. I prefer it over the black frame.

I suspect that the body color windshield and roll bar are not strictly aligned with the '74 or '75 model year. Note that the roll bar pictures in this brochure show both black (dealer installed) and body color (factory equipment). Certainly all the '75s I've seen have body-colored windshields, but that does not rule out some '74s being delivered that way.

Doesn't the "Jeep" lettering change happen in mid-74? All the CJs have the 72-73 style lettering here. Maybe the windshield color change is linked to that.

Also the Renegade picture shows the (very cool) V8 badges, which I thought were completely gone by '74. Surprising.

    Thanks for posting.

My windshield frame is also body colored on my June 74 built CJ5. I think we established in earlier threads that the switchover from black to body colored was sometime around January, 74. The sales brochures are obviously produced at the start of the production run in 73 and thus wouldn't reflect any mid-year changes.

My Jeep also has the same body lettering "Jeep" as shown in these photos. With the black CJ-5 badge under it. In all respects but the color of the windshield frame mine is identical to the Fairway Green Jeep shown above.

Thanks for posting DREDnot. I always wanted one of those black and yellow push bumpers.

I know this is an old post, but any chance you can repost these images, DREDnot?
