I finally got to see the new Cherokee firsthand. The State Fair of Texas has 3 Cherokees in the showroom. One is up on the pedestal (Limited) and 2 others are on the floor where you can sit in them and look them over. (Lattitude and TrailHawk) Unfortunately I was not able to drive one.

I am 5'11" and 270 lbs. I am a big boy. Since I ordered a TrailHawk that is where I spent all of my time. It was loaded with everything (including sun roof). I sat down and the seat was immediately comfortable. I sat there for about 10 minutes checking out the layout and never felt like I needed to change positions. All controls are within easy reach of the driver. Since it was inside a building, the battery was disconnected so I could not play with the drivers seat or instrument cluster.

The interior is really nice. They definitely stepped it up a notch or 3. Even my wife was impressed with the interior and she is a car snob.

Visibility was good all the way around even looking out the rear window. You would be hard pressed to see anything right behind you so the backup camera will be handy. The side mirrors are large enough that you can easily see the traffic to both sides.

Even with the seat set where I was comfortable in the front, I could still sit comfortably in the rear seat. I did not check to see if the rear seat was all the way forward or back though (It is adjustable). I only had about 1/2 to one inch of head room while sitting in the back. Without the sun roof there would have been much more.

Cargo room in the rear was good. I think you would be able to put golf bags back there, or a good bit of luggage. I did not think it was small in any way. I did not put the seats down.

So far I am liking it more and more. Unless it just drives terrible, I don't see me changing my mind about buying one.

I'm curious how the 9 speed drives. buddy of mine was on the launch/design team and a while back he was saying they were having an issue with it even being able to use all the top gears. Think it has 3 overdrive gears.
As soon as we get one on our lot I'll be checking it out too. Hopefully my wife likes the way it looks because it sounds like it will work good for her long drive everyday.

I know they were having issues with the 2.4L 4 banger getting into the top gears. Supposedly that has been corrected. It is the main reason for the latest launch delay. Mine is a 3.2 v-6.

I was actually fairly impressed when I worked on a Fiat 500. They seem to have much better build quality than the Fiat of yore. I have no reason to believe that the Cherokee won't be a decent car.

The dart has the fiat 1.4 turbo along with their manual and dual dry clutch transmissions. They seem to be pretty solid so far. The 4 cyl multi air technology is theirs

After being MIA for almost 2 weeks, mine has finally arrived at the location it is supposed to ship from. :D

Staged For Shipment 10/18/2013 12:41 PM EDT VASC - Taylor Auto Auction YD, MI

It left another lot on 10/5 and there was no update on its location until today. ;) I am guessing it was at a super secret Jeep testing area. According to my sales guy the current shipping date is 10/25. I am not holding my breath on that.

Kinda a cross between a grand cherokee and compass. Exterior reminds me of a bigger compass with the grands interior. Both of ours are only 2wd but were supposed to have a fully loaded trailhawk on the way

I like it. Think we'll be looking at a 4wd latitude later in the summer for my wife

Not yet. For some reason they unloaded it from the train in St. Louis on Saturday. It's now sitting in a storage yard.... AGAIN!

Got to drive one yesterday finally.
I like it. had the 3.2 and 4wd. had enough pep to get you moving in a hurry. curious to drive one of the 2.4 with 4wd to compare the 2.
trans is busy, but smooth. If you haven't driven something with more than 5 gears, it takes some getting used to.

I talked to my Dealer on Monday evening. Turns out the shipping notice I received was it actually shipping to storage in a lot just outside of St. Louis. So it is still sitting in Cherokee Jail waiting to be released. I could have walked to the factory in Ohio and driven it back in the time is has been sitting around since it was built.

I am actually starting to get annoyed with Jeep (not the dealer). They decided to release 2 delayed vehicles at the same time. 20K+ Cherokees and who knows whow many GC Diesels. Talk about a logistical nightmare. I do hope this is worth the hassle. I lost a buyer for my LJ this last weekend because of the delays.

I appreciate the offer. I have been soft selling it up till now. Once I know the new one is definately on the way, I will post for sale listings on the forums and see if I can sell it quickly. It is priced to sell. Just need to find a buyer.
