Looks good....now you just need another project to put it in....Maybe you should buy a jeep just to build for wheeling so you can keep the current one nice? Otherwise, you can pass along the set-up to me...the T18 would be nice in the cj5 and D20 would be nice in the Wagon....

This very early T18 D20 combo is an especially nice find.
I see very little sign of wear on the big 1st reverse gear.

I don't find any Jeep T18's listed prior to this #941742 which dates back to 1965 or 1964 at the earliest.
Certainly the earliest Jeep T18 I've seen.

The top of the shift tower is clean with no additional mounting lugs like the earlier shift towers.
Note how the Shift rails are positioned via Allen screws.
Similar to the T98's with safety wired shift rails.

You could either replace the maindrive with a shorter version or send that one to someone like Moser Engineering and have it shortened.
The Ford and the 1977-79 Jeep maindrives are all 1-1/16".
If you mate this a GM engine the slightly larger 1-1/8" maindrive may be the preferred choice (GM standard )

Well, you're gonna need something to put this in and to put those 33s on....Does Steve have a 4speed? It would be hard for him to break a T18 I suspect...:D

I noticed the lack of internal wear as well. Not only the gears, but the shift fork pads look brand new too!
