When I bought the Jeep it came with another drivetrain (305/t90/D18) for a SBC swap. The parts included were: engine mounts, gauges, flywheel, clutch kit, t90 adapter, plug wires, hei distributor, and novak hydraulic clutch retrofit. Not a bad haul but I'm missing a radiator, starter, and a few other misc pieces to do the swap. This should be interesting to say the least. I have the 305 on an engine stand ready for disassembly and I'm working on removing some junk from the tub and doing a tad bit of wiring so I can drive it with functional brake lights. I might go ahead and pick up a hardtop for it this weekend.

I rewired the headlights and alternator. Was working on the brake lights and found that the brake light switch is bad. Oh and I got a pretty rusty meyers cab yesterday for $40. Sadly it didn't come with doors but I did get the door hinges.

Did more tinkering with the Jeep. Got a new radiator cap but I believe the radiator neck is damaged because once up to temp it'll puke from under the radiator cap. I ran the engine w/o the cap and I didn't notice any bubbles so I doubt there is crankcase pressure getting in the cooling system. I've also been having a problem with the starter and today it bit the dust so I figure I can go ahead and get a landcruiser starter until I do the engine swap.

Here it is when I brought it home. Nothing new except I removed the diamond plate and cleaned up the wiring a bit and gave it a good bath. Don't worry I still have the GPW and it's main priority but I'm waiting for paint to dry so this is what keeps me busy in the mean time.

Currently here is what I know about it. F134, T90, D18, D27, D44 The roll bar is "retrofitted" from a YJ, the electric pusher fan works but isn't hooked up, the Jeep was at a dealership in '99 or '12 I don't recall atm and I bought it with a clean title with a second drivetrain supposedly ready for a sbc swap. I have most of the parts but I'm not going with a hydraulic clutch setup like the PO was going to do (I have the novak hydro clutch kit if anyone's interseted). So far I've put a few miles on it and it tops out at 50-55. I attempted to tune the solex but it has a massive leak from the fuel enrichment shaft so I did what I could and it no longer has a stumble. The tailgate was bent and with a bit of finesse it's not as bent out of shape.

Well I finally started tearing into the 305. First thing I did was take off the valve covers and look at my head casting. 601 casting, interesting. 1.84 intake 1.500 exhaust 53cc chamber. Engine is pretty clean but after its stripped and burnt we'll see if its worth fooling with.

Fuel pump installed and we're back in business. Went on a little round trip and everything seems fine.
I'll be installing a new water pump and thermostat very soon.

I was looking at what the rebuild kit price tag is for an F134 and I saw it was around $800. Huh my 305 swap parts list is around $1030 and that includes rebuilding the 305. Decisions decisions

    Anyhow the 305,
I baked, shot peened, and magnafluxed it. I didn't find any cracks. Same procedure for the heads, I'll do crack detection and pressure test tomorrow. I measured the wear on the intake and exhaust valve stems. Intake showed .001-.002 wear Exhaust had maybe .001 wear on a couple. I'll check out the guide wear tomorrow if the heads are usable.

Doing a bit of everything today. It took 1 can on the hood, and 3 on the rest of the tub and I'm not finished just yet. Need to sand the windshield frame and paint it. I should've bought a gallon of paint and used a spray gun instead of rattle canning it.

Here’s an attempt, maybe I should've left the bondo. I need to touch up on a few places, oh and don't mind the overspray. Also, I’ll be surgical with the angle grinder in no time. :)
The leaf springs are roached, especially on the driver side:susp:
