    late to the party, but, is this the original Motorola/crapola alt? Mine failed and I replaced it with a Delco.. I prefer the three wire alts, but many just use the one wire.

    Yes oe style Motorola alt. The one that was one there that burnt up was probably 8 years or so.

    Change it to a GM.
    All my AMC, s have them, I also like the 3 wire, and their budget friendly.

    Nothing to add just thought I would share my situation with my two jeeps.the 1969 is not stock or original and is equipped with a Delco 1 wire,high output that works great. the 1971 renegade II is original and I recently had the Motorola 35 amp alt. rebuilt by our local shop. The O.E.M. amp gauge has a range of 40 amps so upgrading was out. They did a great job and it came back looking like new.So there is hope if you want to keep it original.If not, don't toss that old Motorola someone may need it. mikie
