Willys M606 models did on the earlier runs on the passenger side only (ended somewhere around 1961 +/-). Mahindra and Mitsubishi did for most of their run until they began cranking out the the J series for civilian consumption. In the research I've done, there is alot of conflicting information as when things stopped or started. Probably because three companies were involved in production and not just one.

In the research I did, (I'm still researching) alot of people say the tools inserts are the dead giveaway in most cases in determining an actual M606 vs. a CJ3B that someone made to look like a military model (which are way more common). I've been cruising the achieves on several historical military vehicle restoration/ preservation forums.

If you look at the pictures in the link you provided during Viet Nam, you'll see M606's with tool indents on the passenger side only. Which tell me they are an early Willys run, or a Mitsubishi/ Mahindra model.
