I have a stock 1984 CJ7 (no lift) and want to know if 31x10.5x15 tires would be too much for it ! I would appreciate your input. Thanks

    I would say yes.
One of the 7s in our local club has 31s with no lift.

I bought my 1985 CJ7 with 31x10.5x15s on 8x15 rims. It didn't have any excessive spring sag, so, everything worked well. The tires tucked perfectly on the trail. But anything over 31" will require some modifications.

Yep and I've a nephew with an '82-7 and 32" BFGS. He'll have some scrubbing on the trail, but he doesn't worry about it cause he doesn't ride it on the trail.

31 will fit. 32s, as mentioned will rub. We got our 83 -7 with 30s, then went 32s no lift. Rubbed on the trail. Put on 2.5 Rancho, perfect fit. I personally think it is a great setup and can do anything the guys with 2.5" and 33s (and some rubbing) or even 4" and 33s could do. When I got swaybar disconnects, all it did was allow the tire to go up far enough to hit the fender, so it was either lower the bumpstops or not disconnect the swaybar. I chose the later.

31's will work, had'em on a 81 dd and used on earlier models. They rubbed at the top of the front fender in the really rough stuff on the earlier but not the later. Have a friend with a scrambler not lifted runs 31's said they don't rub.

Had a set of Dunlop Radial Rovers 31" x 10.50s on 8"x15" rims that didn't rub. With no lift, could turn all the way to full lock. Runnin' 33"s now , thinkin' about goin' back to 31"s when these wear out. Maybee not Dunlops this time.

I have 31x10.50x 15's on 15x8 wheels on my stock 75cj5, have not had any rubbing as of yet and my springs are pretty well sagged, so if your springs are in decent shape you should have any trouble. Look at my site for pics if your interested www.geocities.com/lorenwalding Loren

31x10.50s will fit fine. 33x9.50s will even fit, if your springs havent sagged, and have a narrowtrack rear axle.
