I just did a fresh rebuild of a Dauntless 225. I took probably 5 hours to research best practices and install the cork oil pan gasket during the assembly. I took every step I could to ensure it would seal well, and used aviation gasket sealer on the cork. Of course the SOB leaks a ton when I get on an incline and the oil levels out toward the back of the oil pan. That really ruffles my feathers.... it needs fixed. Im pretty sure it is not the rear main, or it would leak all the time. This only leaks when on an incline, so Im pretty damn sure its just the pan gasket.

I can try another cork gasket, and some different "high tack" gasket sealer.

I could also just clean it up and use RTV instead of a cork gasket.

    Thoughts? Experiences?

Everyone hates RTV. I would use RTV.

    Hi PJ,

My 225 did the same thing, and it turned out to be the rear main seal. No leak on level ground, but anytime I drove the jeep uphill and parked, oil was observed leaking on the ground from the rear of the engine.

    Hope this helps!
