I'm glad to see they've upped the wattage in the definition to 750w. The last time I looked at ebike kits, admittedly years ago, I think a lot of legislation revolved around a 250w limit.

At 750 watts, my bike has no lack of power. It easily hits the 20MPH cut off I set in the controller.

I thought I read, a pedal assist E bike is legal in NP. The bikes that where throttle control are not allowed

That is where it gets kinda into a Grey area. I read that as long as you use it mostly in pedal assist you could still use a throttle on occasion. Not that it is very difficult to remove the throttle if necassary.

Just ordered a Bafang 750 for a cheap bike I bought a year ago. If it doesn't work out, it will go on my Miyata 1000.

In the shape I am in right now I would be lucky to get 10 miles before killing over. I hurt my ankle 3 years ago and just recently got back to where I can ride without it causing pain.

Next year I'll be 70 years old and want to keep riding, so while I'm still young and my hands don't hurt as much, I'm going to do the conversion.

The hub conversions are much cheaper than the mid-drives. You may be able to find one of them in your budget.

I have ridden 30 miles since I put this together. I have not recharged the battery yet. Trying to see how far it will go before it dies. I removed the speed limit from the controller temporarily and hit 30mph in top gear on throttle alone.

Well I started this madness also.
Just the 750 watt with a 48 volt 24.5 ah Whale battery.

I figure volts give you speed ah gives you distance.

Optional headlight. Not used if your don't have one. Just zip tie it up out of the way.

Finished up the install, What fun until the brake magnet fell off.
My fault, I should of super glued it in place.
It's now zip tied in place....

The whole bike now weighs 60# and with me on it, total weight is 293#. But it still moves out !!!

Hit 40 miles since I got it up and running. Still on the original charge but thinking I am close to the end now. This was obviously set up for a 48 volt battery and not 52 volts so the battery Guage is not correct on mine. It shows 80% battery left right now.

Yup. 52 Volt at 17.4Ah. 904.8 Watt Hour. The motor controller can take it with no issue but the display is set up for 48V so it does not track the battery usage correctly.
