Well I finally found a proper set of low back buckets for $100.00 that fit the frames without mods, and they don"t need to be recovered either! (I'M ELATED AT THIS POINT)
My tech question is what year is the cutoff point for early CJ5 vs late CJ5? I need to know this so I can figure out if my drivers seat needs spacers between the drivers seat and frame or adjusters.
My pass. seat frame does not have a seat lock welded to the rear bottom left side as stated in the service man, so I'm not sure about that either.( There are no holes drilled in the floor to accept the latch bracket for the seat either.)
Any help that I can gather of where to go to find this information will be greatly appreciated and humbly accepted.
    Thanks in Advance, Vince (1967 CJ5 )

There were a variety of seats used in early CJ5's, depending on years. This forum covers the "early" (from '55-'71), and "intermediates" (from '72-'76?).
The seats from the beginning to about '62 were the first type, then the next was '63-'65, both of which had coil springs. In '66, Kaiser started using a molded foam type seat that was used up into the intermediate range.
The latch you refer to in the service manual I believe was used up until '63. The service manual coveres the whole range of years, but Willys, and especially Kaiser, had many running changes that are not addressed year by year.
If you have a '67 model year, yours originally had the molded foam bucket seats, with a sliding adjusted on the drivers side, and the passenger seat mounted to a horizontal bar/hinge that runs above the tool box. The '65-earlier passenger seat had the hinges attached to the top of the tool box.

Well first off thanks to both of you for answering my post. As I do have a 1967 cj I suppose that the next thing I need is a good set of seat adjusters for the drivers side.
any ideas of where I could find them? Some are available on e-bay, but I do not know which years will fit as none are stated to fit my year.
Kz400: do you know where the spacers are available, and what they are in size, or are they cut from tubular steel.
Just in case I can't find a set of adjusters maybe I could fashion a set of spacers for my jeep.

Thanks very much! I don't know the reason for the spacers as my old high back seats are bolted directly to the frames now, and all seems well. Wish I was more knowledgeable. Clearly the definition of "JEEP" is what is in the owners realm of imagination.

You will need some space between the slider and the frame so the slider can work. I put in just enough washers to give clearance and keep the seat as low as possible.I can get you dimensions and a pic in a day or so of the spacers. If you can get by without the sliders just bolt seats direct to frame. The rear latch on the pass. seat would be nice so seat doesn't take off on hard braking. You may have a early frame as my '67,'69' ,and '71 have a latch bracket on frame and the floor piece would be easy to fabricate. mike

Thanks for the input once again, I have no problem driving the jeep with the seat in its current position. The frame has multiple mounting positions for the seat, although it may be more of a pain to move. Vince

I will get a pic up later, my phone is not cooperating. They are round bar stock 1" in diameter, 1.5" high, and have a 3/8" hole. There is a slight recess in one end.

What you are describing sounds like what is depicted in the service manual, pics show a recessed area to fit the contour of the bottom of the seat on one end of the spacer, flat on the other.
    Thanks again,Vince

I am only 5' 6 1/2", was 5'8", and I have the seat in my 64 Tux all the way back to the rear fender well and it is just right for me, so I would not worry about adjuster too much, unless you plan to notch your rear fender wells. I am so close to the steering wheel that a drink will not fit in front of me, I have to hold it to the side. Good Luck.

Thanks a bunch! They look a little different than Kz400 was describing, but they look easy enough to replicate. So now down to the local shop to find bar stock.
I am going to pick up my seats tomorrow afternoon in Spokane, a long ride but this seller has a lot of various jeep parts and maybe some spacers?

Thanks again,Oh did I mention that I love this forum?, Vince

I got pretty lucky, found the adjusters and spacers for free! The seats are in real good shape with lust two small tears, but have some white paint on them,(I do not know what type of paint). The next step is to try and remove the paint without ruining the vinyl, has anyone done this successfully?

You might try, acetone, I don't think it will hurt vinyl. Try it underneath first, sure melts paint fast.

Tried a generic hand sanitizer as per a video on u tube but no luck, although they recommended Purell, of which I will purchase today.
And the cleaning process continues. Vince

Went out and bought two small bottles of PURELL 2X and whadda ya know! It works, takes a little scrubbing, but does not hurt the finish of the vinyl at all.
So I will spend a little time now and then to finish them, Thanks all, Vince
