Coolant Recovery On 232

    Restoring my 72 CJ5 232. The question is: Was there a coolant recovery tank (bottle) in 1972 for the 232.
    I have a TSM; however, it is unclear, as is with the parts catalogues I have looked at. If the CJ5 was equipped with a coolant recovery tank what did it look like and where was it fastened.

    (The Jeep had an aftermarket rad cap and a ford bottle so no help from the existing set-up)

    Nope. My '77 258 J10 did not have a coolant recovery bottle, factory or otherwise. My '75 CJ-6 does not have one. The '74-80 parts book shows 1977 as the earliest year for coolant recovery, and that does not include the CJs.

    Apparently mid-80s and later CJs have one. https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/coolant-tank-pictures-1077831/ Fits next to the windshield washer bottle. I would guess your overflow is on the wrong side too.
