Hey guys, so my Jeep is in need of a cowl seal under the windshield. The ones from OMIX are notoriously bad, and apparently NOS ones are made of Platinum! NOS AMC Jeep Cj5 7 8 1976-1986 Windshield Cowl Seal OEM 5453950 | eBay

Are there any aftermarket options that are good? Maybe a stock bulb seal design that can be retrofitted? Any help would be appreciated.

That first one is a much better pricevery than the nos I linked to, and nothe bad if there's a 10 year warranty.

Anybody can warranty anything, doesn't always mean it's a better product.

Anyone here remember the Lifetime Warranty with Onduline roofing… No? I didn't think so.
Squirrels ate it, water eroded it, but it was "warranteed."

    How about these?

You understand that the '76-up windshield is different from the earlier ones? The later seal can probably be made to work, but at a minimum, the defroster air holes won't line up and you'll have to enlarge/move them. I would expect the locations for attaching hardware to be different too.

I used the Omix seal on my Jeep, and it was ok. If the windshield angle is not right, you can shim up the seal with pieces of bicycle inner tube. Likely you can get old tubes cheap or free at your local bike shop.

I bought the seal off eBay. Fit perfect and is not expensive. Forget the brand, sorry.

I'm going from memory here but I think QTM parts is who I purchased some transfer case shifter boots from years ago. The ones I received were very good quality.

I don't remember where I got mine, but that was something I put off too long. I finished everything before I changed mine, when I finally did change it, what a difference it made. The whole Jeep got quieter, the windshield tightened up, and all the rattles went away, it just seemed to feel better. I didn't realize the old one was so collapsed. Good Luck
