I posted before that the linkage for my d 20 was really sloppy. I took the boot loose last night and noticed the the ball stud on the bottom of the shifter was loose. I didn't attempt to tighten it because my luck it would break and then I would be SOL. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the stud or does it have to be replaced as a set with the socket? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how you're measuring sloppy, but mine was difficult to shift, it didn't have a good "feel"
to the gears, but it didn't wobble side to side. I pulled it out a while back and can look at it a little closer if you want. The other side of that is I have spare parts if you need something, but they may be worse than what you have. Mine has been a daily driver most of it's life.

I think you're referring to the "shift lever to shifting lever rod" as the FSM calls it. I'd expect you'd have to replace the whole assembly (2 ball studs and connecting rod). The rod captures a ball stud in each end and is not repairable. It's the same sort of ball studs that are used on the clutch linkage in this era. The standard replacement for the clutch linkage parts is Heim joints and all-thread. Here's an example of the sort of ends I'd use: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/roden7.htm
