I'm working on installing a Ford T18 transmission behind my stock 225 v6. Replacing the T86 it was built with. The Ford input shaft is 1 1/16" (nominal) ten spline. The T86 input shaft is 1 1/8" (nominal) ten spline. The driven plate fits on the Ford input with slightly more "play" than on the T86. My question is, can I put it together and run it, or is that a bad idea?
What have others used for a clutch when they did this conversion? I spent an hour today with one of the "old timers" at NAPA looking for a 10 1/2" x1 1/16" ten spline clutch plate with no luck. He understood what I was looking for but we couldn't come up with it.

My book is out in the shop with the parts numbers in it that I use. I'll look them up tomorrow and post them for you.

In the meantime - my google foo tells me you need a Centerforce 384180 Clutch Disc and I think I used a stock 225 Pressure Plate from LUK. The torque specs needed to be a bunch lighter for the disk (18# vs 34#). I'll try to verify tomorrow once I find the boo

I feel like "Grasshopper" sitting at the feet of the Masters!:D Thanks for the info. I'll practice my Google skills and find a source for the disc. My pressure plate and throwout bearing appear to be good.

Top notch cats around here, Mike. Many people here with professional grade knowledge on just about any topic you can imagine and all willing to offer that knowledge to others. Just good folks with no BS flaming or nastiness. But, this is another topic.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - my journey with the T18 to 225s...

Started with a Sachs K1675-06 fits a 76-79 that came with a T18 - Kit fit, some issues with the engage disengage - swapped to the CF 384180 disk (thicker), kept the PPlate, used 18# torque specs after playing with stock 35# (no worky) and 30# (Close).

Got the parts from Rock Auto - Dial-a-Clutch is also a good reference for mix and matching clutch parts.

One new thing - you can search Summit by clutch size specs now too. Makes it easier to find the 'special' ones we need with the swaps.

Thank you Chuck, The remaining parts I need for this project are slated to converge at my house next week...except I just received notice that my Main shaft is backordered 7-8 weeks....:( I have plenty to do, so I'll work around it while I wait

When I did mine a found a clutch set from a 70 something CJ. splines fit my Ford t18 perfectly and the Pressure plate bolted up to my 225 flywheel. I modified my stock v6 belhousing as well, no adapter. throw out bearing wasn't correct so I had to mess around on Novak site a bit to find the correct one. It's been a few years.
