Dauntless Engine Enamel Paint

I've done a resto on my '67 Jeepster with Dauntless and I found a perfect match to my orginal colour (hinden under some dirt). In Canada it's available in rattle can from "plasti-kote" called "fast dry engine enamel" code is 225 Alpine Green(Detroit Diesel). I've never seen anything come closer to OE colour. Hope this helps folks.
I'm actually over here trying to find one of your memebers who posted on our Jeepster board. He's looking for a gas pedal which I have an OE. But I can't find your club member listings other than the map with all the little dots (which doesn't help me much)...looking for mdmeltdown.

PS...yes the colour swab above is much too dark and a bit too bluish.

I don't know if anyone has used the duplicolor BG11M on their engine yet, but this guy did... and doesn't seem to like the paint's resistance to gasoline!

I wouldn't use Duplicolor brand on anything.

 

I know I haven't got a Jeep, but I do have the marine version of this 225. It's a 1966 Correct Craft Skylark LH Drive with the Universal Super Sabre Buick V-6 225 155 HP motor. It is TAN in color and I need to freshen it up. Any ideas on this color?

I had the same problem till I discovered if you don't clean it good with lacquer thinner it will just wipe off
after a good cleaning and heat lamps baking it on it even holds up to brake fluid (i didn't do the engine I did the frame)




Take your time get the engine clean use heat lamps to bake it you can get this same finish on your engine and gas will not affect it if you apply it correctly

 

Hampstead Green has been discontinued by Duplicolor. You can find a few cans left on the shelf; but, after that it's gone! I went with it, and I'm happy!

 

Again, you don't want to use Duplicolor on ANYTHING. Use the paint code BG11M and get a quality urethane mixed up in some other brand. Nason is a very good value for this kind of work and is resistant to fuels and oils. Even acrylic enamel will work, although you're only talking about maybe a $5 savings over urethane for the quantity you'll need to do an engine.

 

After calling around and talking to many companies, I'm told the color is called "Alpine Green" All the auto parts stores have it!! I must have bought 10 cans of different greens and finally the one that matched the 1968 225 V6 I bought from Jeep back in 1970 in the crate!! Alos the Buick farm outfit gave me the same info on the alpine green.

buick sold the v6 to jeep in 1967, buick bought it back in 1974, thus we must look for the color elswhere than buick. kaiser? let,s git it right i might want to paint my v6 someday. tiger 2

 

Hi I am new to this Forum. I am restoring a 68 Jeepster and have rebuilt a 3.8l to put in. I have tried the detroit alpine green but it did not have any blue tones to it I tried the hampsted green and still no joy. I have a original dauntless which I cleaned with a pressure washer and found the underlying color preserved under 40 years of grime. I last week was working on a Navistar DT 466 diesel and the color looked familier. I brought home some painted seal washers I replaced and the paint is almost identical to what was under the dauntless decals on the valve cover. I will try to post some pictures later.

 

Was the paint on the DT 466 with metal-flake?

 

tiger2 here,, in 1967 the dauntless buick v6 was used in jeeps, i looked for green 67 jeep paints. on ebay i found an old 67 paint chip chart for sale, 5.99$, i,m sure the corect 67 engine green is on the chips chart. item#330539574708. i did not buy the chart. use item #or lookup 1967 kaiser jeep truck paint chips color chart,,ebay.

 

OK I see the lead post edited to say the closest is Hampstead Green, code BG11M. Does anyone know where to purchase this in quarts / pints. I'm going to paint it in the frame attached to the rest of the running gear.

Part number EP-536 (quart) and EP-536S (Spray)

 

The 304 in my '79 CJ5 was a color called old Ford green. The rattle can I used was an exact match to the paint still on the engine.
