I was checking my old points odd fire distributor for a buddy and found out it must be a rebuilt. The rebuilders must of used whatever casting would fit. The number on it is 1112110 which is for a 72-73 Buick 455. Might be something to watch for if you're trying to determine numbers.

Wouldn't think a big block dizzy would work for a v6. Unless it was the big block 305 v6 used in 1960-1970 GMC pickups.

They probably just used the distributor body and a few common parts most later big block and small block Buicks shared quite a few pieces and parts with the V-6's.

That was my point. Housings were the same. It might frustrate somebody trying to match up casting numbers to get parts.

Housings are not the same. The "tab" that lines up the cap are not in the same location. You could get it to fire, but you won't be able to adjust the dwell with the cap on it.

The 1112110 came out of the 225 when I put the HEI in. The engine came out of the 69 CJ5 I bought in 75. I never replaced the distributor so thr PO put it in. Has the cap with the window that lines up with the plug tower that the 1110376 distributor uses. Always set the dwell through the window. Ran it for 34 years.

I have a 110376 stamped into mine; but, the cap has evenly spaced contacts on the inside. From what I've read, the evenly spaced contacts make it an even fire distributor then?

The point type delco distributors were all evenly spaced on the cap towers. The only way you could tell the diff for the 225OF was to look inside at the cam lobes.

Dang it! Can't trust anything on that internet. I'm just starting to learn about these old ignition systems. I've tried to find a side-by-side picture of the differences between an oddfire and evenfire distributor, but obviously got the wrong info. Thanks for the correction. If anyone has pictures showing what to look for, please post them.

    Curt,
Unless I'm mistaken, you won't find a standard Delco distributor for an evenfire V6. By the time the evenfire version was introduced, the distributors were all HEI.

Don, thank you...this makes sense. When I look up the part numbers, they simply refer to the V-6 with no mention of even or odd-fire.

    Thank you.
