I sold the F-600. A friend wanted it and now my oldest son (13) has a 57 CJ5 as a project. My next oldest (8) just got a 47 CJ2A. I have my hands full of projects now! I made the tank because after I made the doghouse for the 4 speed, the original style didn`t clear by about a half inch. I have a hole in the opposing corners and yep, it did warp a little. No issues though, bolted right in. Will provide a pic installed.

    Flares.jpg

Kids and I installed flares in the garage a few nights ago. Everyone helped and had fun in a warm garage on a cold night!

Thanks Tarry, I wish they made flexible ones without the indent, but oh well, it's not too bad. Maybe I will stick a light in that area or do something to make it look like they belong that way.

If I saw this earlier, Id probably have gotten these, provided they weren't hard plastic. I like a flare to be a bit flexible.

Thank you, same to you! I may look for some 15x8 stocker wheels for it. I'd like to get tires to stop rubbing rear inner fenders at full stuff.

So, I'm going to change out my Dana 18, behind my SM465, to a Dana 20. It's just too loud on long trips. I like my offset rear axle, however and would like to keep it. My driveshaft angle is virtually flat right now, and it will be slight with a Dana 20 due to my long rear driveshaft. It will run at a bit of an angle from a Dana 20 to my offset (full float and disc braked) 44. Do you guys think I will have any vibrations?

Just for more info....4.10 gears, 33" tires, 65-70 on highway. I'm guessing it'll be fine, as Jeep did it in the FSJs in the 70s.

Worst case scenario, I will change to a centered 44, but I like my current axle.

First off there is a gear change between the D-20 @ 2:1 and the D-18 @ 2:43 I believe...................Lots of bearing kits out there that claim noise reduction to the Intermediate gears by changing them over to tapered roller bearing..........check w/Advanced adapters.........the Dana 20 can also be made offset by using the D-18 gear sets which may just be a compromise to eliminate some of the noise................

Centered drive shaft to offset axle? Lots of guys have tried it ..........if that Jeep see's trails only probably no big deal............on the freeway at speed.......no U-joint likes running at a compound angle.

As long as the angle in any direction doesn't hit (or add up In this case?) like 20 Degrees you should be good. My blazer runs at like 27 degrees and it's just bad. It was lifted 6" and the tcase was never dropped and it just is the definition of bad angles. Also, I know the angle at both the output of the tcase and output of the rear is supposed to be very close if not the same.

I'm going to try it and keep everyone posted. Like I said above, worst case put in a centered 44.
