So I picked up this '76 project with a fiberglass tub and front end. For anyone that has ever done this, how did you locate where to put everything? I think I can figure out the windshield, dash etc. but other things like the seats, roll bar, etc. Did you use the old tub as a template? Unfortunately I don't have this option...

Yup used the old one. You could find a similar rig local you can go measure.

Yeah you really do need another tub to go off of and you will be referring to it ALOT. Other option is to ask us around here to grab measurements for you but the turnaround time may not be ideal. I did a fiber tub on another 74 CJ5 about 25 years ago and the biggest issue was that the front 2 body mounts (closest to engine bay) were not included and I had to fabricate them. Not sure what today's fiber tub looks like but if the mounts aren't there definitely fabricate them. Otherwise you'll start tweaking the front of the tub every time you clutch.

And... grounds are a constant issue everything needs a home run ground wire. I use a bus bar on the firewall to run them all to. It seems like the three glass tubs I have rot the ground wire on the battery about every two years or so. Fluid film on the posts seems to slow it down some.

It was a fairly mild day yesterday so I crawled under the Jeep to have a look at the mounts, def looks like they used the stock bushings, about 1/2" thick. Did some research on mounting the fiberglass tub and came away with all sorts of differing opinions. Don't use a body lift, don't use poly mounts, should be mounted with a kit with metal strips, etc. etc. Can anyone clarify a proper way to mount the tub. Every link I hit that had that long rubber tube you cut down looks to no longer be there? Also, the body lift I was looking at sat on top of the bushing?? I would think I'd want the bushing between the block and the tub? Could I use a BL with a rubber bushing on either end and maybe metal plates between it and the tub to dissipate the stress? I just want to do this safely and correctly.
