I got the tub off the project and power washed the grim from the frame. I was pointing out to a friend who is quite knowledgeable about early Jeeps that I couldn’t find the serial numbers on the frame and showed him where I had cleaned carefully where I thought they would be located. And,son a gun, I spotted the rear stamping about 8” further back on the frame and the front stamping further back mostly covered by the body tub rubber pad. The serial numbers, though not fully formed, when compared to each other read 169860. Which take to be a January 1964 build. I’m almost certain that this was a Tuxedo but the hood had no side badges. Chrome bits all over the place and the Spruce Tip paint make it pretty clear. Would the VIN have been: 8305 169860?

Tux would begin 8322 or something similar if I recall.

I read somewhere here that only MkIVs had the 8322 prefix. The VIN plate is missing and I didn’t get the title and trying to retitle with something close to correct

I expect your Jeep is a regular CJ5, not a Tux. Yes, you have chrome hinges and grab bar, but I think someone just blinged out your Jeep. I have seen chromed windshield frames before, but have never found a chrome version in official parts books.
The hood with the block off plate was used up into early '66. No telling if its original.

I’m thinking you may be correct, I’ve since noticed that there is no notch for a column shifter in the dash (which I’m sure is original to the Jeep)
