Does anyone know if this would work on the stock (under seat) tank and stock OEM Speedo cluster on a 1966 CJ5?

Fuel sending unit, with return line fitting

I’m about to bench test the sending unit I have but it looks pretty haggard and I’d love to not have to drill a new hole for the Sniper fuel return.

I emailed sam and asked and he said no it will not fit - the float is too long and the holes are in the wrong place.

So I’m either going to refurbish the one I’ve got and drill and tap a hole in it for the return or buy a new one and drill and tap it.

does anyone know where to get one of these that’s not OMIX-ADA???

I got the MTS CJSU-3 that you suggested @timgr - however as compared to the flat original, the way the MTS is stamped there isn't really room for the 9/16 hole and gasket/pipe that came with the Holley Sniper kit.

So it looks like I will have to either a) do a smaller hole and brass fittings with a reducer from the 3/8" i.d. fuel hose and ditch the parts that came with the kit, or b) drill a hole elsewhere in the tank and run the return line down.

Do you guys recall how much vertical space there is between the top surface of the tank and the seat mount bars? My bars are in storage and the seats are at the upholsterer.

Trying to weight options - if I stick with the Holley parts they will stick up about 2" above the tank and I'd hate to do that right under a seat bar or the tank strap. I would also have to pick a spot for the hole where I can get pliers or a wrench around the bulkhead fitting nut from inside the sending unit hole.

related question - what is the second hole at the bottom of the tank for? Looks like it connects to an arched piece of tubing?

Bump - is this curved tube and fitting already in the tank (pic above) an existing return? Should I just plan to return into that? Or do I need to do it from the top? Seems to me it would aerate the fuel if I let it get extremely low…
