With all this idle time and sunny weather, I had no excuse not to bring the CJ-6 out from its cover and see what's what. Removed and folded the cover, added fuel, put the battery in, and vroom vroom. Well, almost. It started for a few seconds then I smelled a strong gasoline odor. Looked under the hood, and gas is pouring from the front of the carburetor.

Those of you familiar with the Autolite/Motorcraft 2100 know that that cover on the front of the carburetor is the accelerator pump, and it's full of gasoline to the level of the float bowl.

Here is the old diaphragm and a replacement:

I have gone through this before with my J10 which also has a 2100 (from a 360 Cherokee originally) so I had the part needed on hand. It's Dorman 90082, about $3 at RockAuto. I bought a couple extras of this part, waiting for a replay of this situation.

Now the Jeep is off the parking pad and in the garage. I need to charge the battery, since I only have one 24F currenty that's any good, and the J10 uses the same battery.

BTW I like your cj6. I have a neighbor that has a cj6 with a hard top. It has been sitting out side in the far side of the yard near the barn for years and never driven. Would not even talk about selling it to me. I guess I can understand that after all it'a jeep! I would not sell mine either.

Are you planning on using it now that spring is creeping around, albeit far too slowly?

Tim...not to hijack an old thread. But could you flip me a pic of your wire loom at the coil w/ bracket? I see part of it here. I've been trying to figure out the stock looms. Not many pics of them out there or info on them. Do you have the 2-wire loom on the valve cover tab too? Any part numbers? I found the Dormans, but they are not exactly right, they have a closure over the wires on top, and seem big for 7mm wires. But better then "Moroso" stamped across them.

What were you hoping to see?

The white ones are OEM, and are very tight for 8mm wires. The blue ones came with the wires.
