hey guys I have a Rochester 2g on a Oddfire 225. I believe it’s the wrong model 2g for the motor. I was thinking about replacing it with a Holley 2 barrell 350 cfm and a adapter plate. Anyone Else have this combination good idea?bad idea? Or I could just order an exact replacement 2g off of eBay.

In my experience, the 2V Holleys are great on the street, and terrible on the trail. You can modify them to make them work better, but it seems pointless since the functionally similar Motorcraft 2100 or 2150 works great without modification. If you search the net you will find a lot of information about modifying Holleys to work better on the trail.

This guy sells a lot of these carburetors for Jeep applications - NEW MotorCraft 2150 Jeep/AMC/Eagle/Pacer Carb Upgrade 258/4.2 1.08 Venturis | eBay - tell him what you want and he will set up the carburetor for you. No personal experience with this seller, but it seems like lots of people are happy with their carburetors from him.

Apparently the 2G is a fine match to the stock 225, and works well in a Jeep. Just depends on what you want ...

I run a 2 bbl Holley on my OF 231. I like it. Like it better than the 2G that came on it. I am curious to try the Mototcraft unit though since everyone speaks so highly of it.

Jeep versions of the 2100 and 2150 came with a float damping spring that is cheap Autolite 4100 Carburetor Primary Float Spring

The main reason folks like the 21xx is because it keeps working on hills and side angles. They used to be plentiful in the yards - that's where I got the one that's on my J10 currently. When I had my Holley ('73 304 CJ-5), there were angles where it simply would not run without pumping the pedal. It would also bounce-flood easily compared to the original 2100. There's a lot you can do to the Holleys, and aftermarket parts support is great. Plus they are easy to tune. Seat of the pants difference was significant, but I went back to the 2100.

Yes fhoehle that’s what I ended up doing. I found someone one ebay selling factory correct rebuilt 2g’s however it was a bit pricey. I suppose I can’t go wrong with one since it’s a bone stock motor

The 2g from eBay worked out great bolted it on made a few adjustments and down the road I went.no complaints at all. Until the fuel pump failed last week. I have to pick up one from Napa on Thursday.
