I'm hoping someone here can help. I have a 2v intake off a 1984 258. I'm looking for the temperature switch that controls the intake heater. I've looked online and NAPA and Carquest. It opens at 165 and is 3/8 NPT. Even a discontinued PN would help. All I can find are temp sensors or 1/2 NPT. Thank you.

No time to search right now, but there are parts books here JeepĀ® Parts Manuals online that should give you a Jeep PN. Scroll down to "81-86 Jeep Parts Manual."

Also possible that you could use a fan switch meant for electric fans. Look at the aftermarket electric fan listings, or search the net for what parts other people have used for their electric fan retrofits. These switches would close at a set temp (say 165F) but you can always buffer that signal through the NC (normally closed) side of a relay, so that the heater shuts off at the set point. A relay may be a good idea generally, since this heater is a big resistive coil in the bottom of the intake.

Thanks for every ones help. I looked into fan switches and using the NC side of a relay, but wanted to keep it as simple as possible. Using the NC side of the relay, I would need to interrupt the power thru the relay with key off. I do plan on using a relay, as I checked current flow through the heater. If I remember correctly was about 10 amps and spiked over 20 when first turned on. I will try crossing those numbers, thanks jpflat2a and timgr.

I want to thank everyone. J3242321 is what I needed. The local Chrysler dealer was able to order it through vintage parts. It is available thru Crown, but I don't trust Crown.
