Was talking to my brother about my plans for my recently aquired '74 CJ-5 and that was was planning on getting a 1/4 ton trailer. I told him a know a place where I could get the Canadian version of the M416. He immediately stated that my choice was a VERY POOR one. That the distance between the wheels on the M416 is greater than that of the CJ-5 and this would cause problems both on and off road. Well, I have not trusted anything my brother has told me since he said "Jump, I'll catch you." and "Go ahead, it is only ankle deep." I do wonder if is a problem.

I dont think you have anything to worry about. I mean what is he thinknig is going to happen?? THe 416 is made for the 151 Mutt, but the mutt is the same (or close to it) wheelbase as the cj5. I would doubt what he is saying, there are thousands of people trail riding with the trielrs and i do not ever hear of a problem.

Uh, I realize the TJ is a bit bigger than my 5 but still I've had NO issues with my 416 behind it.

KCJeep didn't either, he just liked the looks of an M100 better behind his 5 with the round not square fenders.

Dan's right, it was designed for a MUTT, I wouldn't worry about it. The M101CDN is a great trailer IMO for any Jeep.

No reported issues from the Bantam Trailer list (plenty of 416 owners there).

Wizard...you can't go wrong with the M416. Sparky was right on...I just like looks the M100 with the rounded fenders. In fact the M100's wheelbase is narrower than the M416 and I have had no problems pulling my trailer. Must admit, I haven't had it much over 50 mph...Both are great looking Jeep trailers. The Canadian version M101 is very well built and would make a good choice also. KCJ
