Any feedback on the 2014 Cherokee's? Looking to replace the wife's Civic (02 with 285 thousand km's ) with a slightly used 4banger . I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about the newer jeeps. I like the looks of them anyways. Did they sort out the shifting issue? Real world feedback?

I have had mine for about a year now. It is a 2014 Trailhawk with the V-6.

I have had 2 problems with with it.
    1) At about 3K miles I had 2 instances where the transmission went into neutral while at cruise speed on the highway. The dealer updated the transmission firmware and it has not been an issue since. I ahave close to 21K miles on it now.
    2) Last month the engine developed an oil leak. It turned out the gasket on the oil filter housing had failed. The dealer replaced it in about 4 hours and it has been fine since then. I have not heard of any issue with the 4-cyl engines. They also applied another transmission update when it was in the shop for this. The transmission is now very smooth and the Jeep is a pleasure to drive.

Even with these 2 issues, I love the comfort and ride my KL and would buy another one. For more information you may want to check out the following site. I have been on it since before the KL was released and there is lots of good information. Just FYI in the real world there is very little difference between the I-4 and V-6 in fuel consumption.

My wife has a V6 Trailhawk, the one issue so far, is the Auto Start/Stop mode turned itself permanently off. While its something I am going to take to the dealer to fix, I typically turn it off anyhow when I'm driving it. And I'll echo hudsonHawk's sentiments, I've been half tempted to buy one for myself. I really like the vehicle.

Well, I like them , but the wife thinks they're too "big". Might be too much a move up from her civic.
Seeing as she's the one that's going to be driving it 90% of the time, we'd better get something she's comfortable with.
    Thanks for the help anyways

As an FYI, the Chrysler 200 is a very very nice sedan, a lot of the same drive train parts, nearly as comfortable, and they do come in all wheel drive..... I actually took the Mrs. to look at those, and to my surprise she chose the KL instead.

Weve got a latitude with the 4cyl and havent had any issues either. Biggest thing was the trans updates. All the 3.6 and probably the 3.2 also seem to have an issue with the oil cooler in the valley leaking. Seen quite a few of them now. Different colored gaskets so hopefully thats the issue.

Ive gotten quite a few hours behind the wheel now driving them for the trans adaptive relearn and they do ride nice
