The stock lug studs show a knurl size of .618 but you can only get that in a 1 3/8" stud. I need a little longer to get enough such that the nuts go on fully threaded. I can find 1 1/2" and 1 5/8" but the knurl goes up to .621 to .625. How much can you press in before you ruin a hub? I know I also have to watch the knurl length too. I'm working on a Geo disc conversion and with the factory studs already on, I'm maybe 1.5 threads from the stud being flush with the end of the nut.

Rule of thumb is three threads over a full nut. At least that is what we were taught in the construction industry.

I would stick with the .618 knurl (or very close). Check out Dorman 610-475, or 610-260. They are plenty long, nearly 2". The 475 is actually listed as a .615 knurl, but has a longer shoulder than the 290 (more knurl area), so it is probably a wash in terms of interference fit. I used the 475's and they pressed in nice and snug.

There is also a wheel stud sizing chart on Dorman's website if you ever need...
