Im going to install 1 1/2” lift shackles on the cj. My question is now that I’m lifting it do you think I need to install lift shocks or will the factory replacements work?

Depends. You need to measure the distance between the pins. The lift makers usually recommend that you use longer shocks, then add blocks between the frame bumpers and the frame to keep the longer shocks from bottoming out at full travel.

Note that a 1.5" longer shackle only lifts by 3/4", so for that you can probably use the original shocks. Longer shackles are not the best way to lift a Jeep.

Lifting it 3/4" isn't going to affect much. The stock springs (if they are?) have probably sagged more than that.

Too short of a shock is less of a concern than too long of a shock - that's when you run into broken shock mounts from the shock bottoming out before the axle's travel is limited by a bump stop.

It won't be much, but do be forewarned that longer shackles will alter your caster a hair, making the handling a little worse.
