Lower Ball Stud Jam Nut

‘72.
Pressed in the new ball joints and installed the knuckle. Upper ball joint went perfect. Torque to spec. I can’t seem to get the new lower ball joint jam nut to get flush with the knuckle on either the driver or passenger side. When I get to 50ft/Lbs and the nut locks, the lower ball joint starts to spin. Any ideas? Should I fab up some type of shim?

 

You need to do the bottom joint first.
push the knuckle up hard into the housing using a floor jack. Try installing the lower nut again.

 

The top joint has a threaded insert for adjustment it’s covered in the fsm

 

Jack underneath it and then a lever putting some pressure against the knuckle and axle grabbed it enough for me to torque it down. Thanks so much guys. Ball joints done. First timer success!
